SVSU Athletics Mock-Up

Updated: Jun 7

[UPDATE] So, we screwed up; we were using Veo 2! We never actually toggled it to Veo 3 and because we weren't actually attempting results with audio yet, we didn't realize it. No judging! Check out our ACTUAL Veo 3 results here.

B.C. Design's Creative Fulfillment Team has been exploring a number of AI generators as of late in an effort to leverage these emerging technologies as best we can to grow our business and serve our clients.

We recently began experimenting with Google's recently released, Veo 3 AI video model to see if we could successfully create "b-roll" footage clients. Though successful, every prompt generated is not usable or passable. As we continue improve and refine our prompting skills, the videos generated will improve in quality as well.

Our most recent AI-generated video, is an mock athletics commercial for Seneca Village State University. Below is the final edit and several outtake prompts:

The final product isn't perfect, but it allows us to practice and refine our prompting skills as well as learning Veo 3's limitations and how to best leverage them. We also realized halfway in, that we were prompting "purple and dark gold" instead of "purple and orange". This error certainly affects color consistency but there is still largely no guarantor on matching hues between images no matter the prompt, from our experience.

This clip suffered from severe distortion with the lettering ("athletics" is jumbled") and the athletes phase into one another.

The video quality here, distortions and glitches aside, is incredible. The movement is obnoxious and makes this clip unusable at any length but this clip still demonstrates the leaps and bounds these models have made as it pertains to realism and physics of smaller details.

I prefer this clip to the one cut into the commercial mock-up. The lettering on the uniforms was too distracting so ultimately, this clip was a pass.

Another clip that was preferred initially but the misspelled text was again, too distracting. This can be cropped in tighter so that the text is not visible; this was done with a tennis athlete in the final commercial. The rain also appears to be real.

We are having higher success rates with Veo 3 than a number of image generation models we have used in the past, which says a lot, considering Veo 3 is creating video. In comparison to other video generators we have tested, Veo 3 appears to output (up to two) 5-8 second videos in 60 seconds to two minutes. This is a rough estimate based on 42 hours of testing and prompting (not scientifically accurate). This model is noticeably faster than it's competitors, nonetheless.
